A Walk In The Clouds

It’s the afternoon on a cold, crisp winter day. Our trail leads us ever higher in the Gatineau Park foothills. Tall black trees are guarding the forest, their bare outstretched arms reaching for the warmth of the sun. The intense sunlight cuts through the bright cerulean blue sky, past the trees, momentarily blinding us. The angle of the light turns the white blankets of snow to various shades of pastel blue, and the lengthening shadows, cast by the trees, deepened into a profound, dark purple.
