About This Painting

The Rideau Woodland Ramble is a garden centre, trail system and series of beautiful gardens, basically a wonderful place to spend a summer day.  Sitting by this pond working on this piece I felt like I had escaped into a world where time stood still. I used chalk pastels as they allowed me to blend the rich colours that helped me evoke the soothing ambiance of this quiet sanctuary.  I invite you to stop for a few minutes feel the warmth of the sun and relax as you listen to the birds chirping in the background.
