A Walk in the Clouds

About This Painting

It was one of those beautiful winter days we all love. I was hiking with my dog, Bailey, on a freshly groomed trail in Gatineau Park. Slowly we climbed the hill, passing families as we made our way toward the peak. Tall, dark trees guarded the forest, their bare, outstretched branches reaching for the warmth of the sun. As the temperature began to drop, I noticed the shadows stretching longer across the snow. I wondered if I would make it back to the car by sunset, but decided to keep hiking.

When we turned the corner, and I was in another world. The trees loomed black against the sky, and the setting sun changed everything. The snow, once a bright white, had turned to shades of pastel blue, blanketed with sparkling crystals. Shadows stretched out in varying hues of deep purple. It looked exactly like a scene from a children's fairytale.
